SPRING POSITION CAMP
Why Have a Position Camp?
During the regular hockey season with limited practice time, most youth teams put an emphasis on team play and design the practices to focus on team concepts to prepare for game situations. This makes it very difficult to develop individual skills at each position. This camp helps players improve at their position specific skills & be at their absolute best heading into the travel team tryouts in the spring.
Development Plan for 8U & 10U Age Groups
Skaters 10 years old and younger will learn both forward and defensive positions throughout the camp. The reason for this is because 8U doesn't have set positions and the 10U group is still young enough that they are learning all the positions and haven't typically settled a specific position yet.
Development for 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U Age Groups
The 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U age groups will register for one position and specialize on that position throughout the camp. Position groups will begin the camp with fundamentals of positioning, skating, and simple concepts. As the camp progresses, there will be more speed and competition added into practices so that each group is able to get a lot of reps in game type situations.
